Last Friday evening I took my girlfriend for a swanky dinner at a lovely restaurant at Somerset House on the north bank of the Thames in London. Following the meal, we walked over Waterloo Bridge and half way across, and down on one knee, I popped the question. After a whole lot of tears she finally said “yes”, but the tears soon started flowing again when our chauffeur pulled up in a gleaming Mercedes and we took our seats in the back, accompanied by a fine bottle of champagne.
